I can’t vote, but I can hope.

In a few hours the American people will take a decision that will affect all of us, as every move of the United States of America has consequences all over the world.

We are at a crossroads as the two Presidential candidates represent such different politics and views that, in this particular times, will have a completely different impact on the world.

I supported Barack Obama since the primaries, as I saw in him the man that could bring real change not only to Washington D.C. but to the whole world. Indeed change is not only in his hands, as he needs the support of his Cabinet and, above all, of the Congress. Still believe that, if put in charge, he will be able to make a difference.

I’ve read with great interest his book “The Audacity of Hope” and through those words I felt the passion and determination that allowed this man to push things forward, to balance his life, to achieve the results he sought for and to learn and grow from his own mistakes.

I do like very much Obama for what he demonstrated to the whole world. Not only he showed the world that a black man can run for the U.S. Presidency, but he also demonstrated that it’s not true that in America only who gets money from the lobbies can run.

He used the internet and the enormous power of the social media to aggregate and engage his supporters, creating the largest supporting network of all times. He got more money than the other “traditional” candidates, surpassing even the wealthy Republican Party.

This, once and for all, showed the world that thanks to the new technologies a single can make the difference. Is the single unknown American with his little donation of a few bucks, who made Barack win the Primaries.

Obama demonstrated that despite many years of disastrous administration, the Unites States of America is still the greatest Country in the world, the land where change happens and where decent people are given the opportunity to pursue their dreams and, ultimately, happiness.
