Back from Brussels where I thought about it!

Posted by: Francesco In: Internet & Web 2.0|Politics

It’s been a while since I came back from Brussels, where I attended to kick-start of a great project: TH!INK ABOUT IT!

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hg5Bt0TuawU

Goal of the project is to raise awareness about the imminent European Elections on the web, exploiting the power of social media, thanks to a large group of bloggers from all over Europe.

It has been a great opportunity for me to peek inside the European Parliament, know more about its members and discover very interesting initiatives. For example I didn’t know the great website the EP had, such rich in content in all the EU languages!

Each country has about three bloggers that will populate a blogging platform with articles, news and multimedia content about the elections. They’re free to express themselves as they wish as well as they are free to choose the main focus of their blog.

Some of them will choose to write about national perspectives of these incoming elections, while some of them may prefer a more pan-european approach. There could (and will) be also euro-skeptic positions!

The experience I lived was great. It’s fairly uncommon to gather in a place with people coming from all the 27 member countries, willing to share their views, ideas and experiences in a enthusiastic and joyful way.

It’s hard to forget the enthusiasm and passion that I saw in the eyes of my east-European new friends, as well as the fun I had with people coming from Greece and the UK!

All the EJC guys who organized the event, starting from Wilfred, Bianca, Ruth, … did an amazing job in planning and executing such a well delivered event!

If you wanna learn more about this project, visit the “thinkers” community and follow the upcoming blogs!
