iPhone 3G battery issues solution? Use it like an entry level Nokia!
Posted by: Francesco In: Mobile World
Since 2.2.1 I experienced really bad battery life on my iPhone 3G, but when I recently upgraded to OS 3.0 things got crazy. Today I can’t reach the end of my work day without having to recharge my phone after lunch. The only solution that seems to work is using my iPhone 3G with…3G off.
I thought Apple discussion forums and support could be helpful, so I surfed there full of hope and enthusiasm but, to my disappointment, I only found a hilarious list of suggestions on how to reduce battery draining, here it is for your convenience:
- Don’t use GPS
- Turn off push notifications
- Don’t fetch data automatically
- Don’t use push email (seriously?)
- Check less email accounts (after all, what do you need all those different addresses for?)
- Don’t use Apps
- Don’t use Wi-Fi
- Don’t use Bluetooth
- Use Airplane Mode in low coverage areas (yes, you won’t be reachable but that’s just a minor side effect)
- Turn brightness down
- Turn off the equalizer
- Turn off 3G
Please, can someone remind me why I bought an expensive iPhone 3G?
Essentially to have a decent battery life (less then a couple of days) you have to turn off all the features that define the iPhone 3G, transforming it in a entry level Nokia (which, by the way, features days of battery life).
P.S. Don’t tell me the old “it’s a smartphone” thing, I had two BlackBerries prior to the iPhone that I used the whole day and their batteries lasted days!
