The well promoted launch of the PS3 Slim ignited a loud buzz on the internet whether or not this is a move that puts gas on fire in the “console wars”.
Frankly I don’t see much to discuss about here. The WSJ says this move is very important for Sony in trying to gain shares over the Xbox 360, while two days ago BBC World News dedicated a whole segment to the announcement reporting the significance of this move for the gaming industry.
If you ask me, I very much agree with Nicholas Deleon in saying that this would have been a great move three, or at most two, years ago, but now it really doesn’t matter any more. What could matter is the price reduction, but certainly people aren’t going to buy the PS3 just because it got slimmer.
